Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is well-known for her stellar performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards, including her first Oscar for her film Piano. The talented actress began her career as an actor by performing on stage, by performing in a myriad of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. From the time she was a child she's been passionate about acting. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. When she was in the fifth grade following a bout of mumps, she lost her hearing in the left ear. But she didn't let that stop her. She studied drama at college before moving from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dreams. She was introduced to Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. Following her move into Los Angeles she tried to find film roles, and was able to secure a supporting role for the role of a supporting character in Swing Shift. For the past 30 years she's appeared in numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
